Viewpoints Koh Samui
Koh Samui offers loads of attractions and activities for visitors. This certainly includes the beautiful viewpoints that can be found all over the island. Some of them are very well known and others are more difficult to reach and often lonely. Also, some hotels or restaurants offer beautiful viewpoints that you can visit even if you are not a guest at the hotel.
We would like to introduce you to ten viewpoints in the following.
1. Viewpoints Koh Samui: Lad Koh
Just a short time after leaving Chaweng on the ring to the south you can find the Lad Koh Viewpoint on your left-hand side. You actually can’t miss it. There are no opening times or fees and you can enjoy the fantastic panoramic view over the ocean and Chaweng Beach. At the viewpoint, a path leads down to the rocks. Just follow it down, take the stairs and you are at the ocean. This is also a popular spot to see the sunrise.

Nestled in the mountains of Chaweng Noi, the Jungle Club offers sweeping views of the Gulf of Thailand, the shores of Chaweng and Chaweng Noi as well as the neighboring island Koh Phangan in the distance. Of course, you need to have good weather to see everything clearly. In addition to the bar and restaurant, there are also bungalows with an infinity pool for guests who stay overnight, at the Jungle Club. Enjoy some of the delicious food or drinks, relax in the bean bags and just watch the terrific view. Definitely worth a visit.

3. Viewpoints Koh Samui: Jungle Route 360
On the second-highest mountain of Koh Samui you can find the Jungle Route 360. Since 2015 the restaurant welcomes guests with a stunning view on Koh Samui, of course in 360 degrees. You can see many parts of the island from the Jungle Club 360 like Lamai, Choeng Mon, Chaweng or the neighboring islands of Koh Phangan and Koh Tao as well as the Ang Thong Marine National Park when the view is clear. Not only can you eat and have a drink at the restaurant there is also some space for camping on the mountain of Koh Samui, if you are interested in that.

4. Koh Samui: Lamai Viewpoint / Valentine Stone
Actually, the Lamai Viewpoint is more than just that. While visiting the viewpoint you can also see and do a lot of other things. For example, there is a fish spa on-site as well as the small Siva Tara Waterfall and the Valentine’s Stone in the shape of a heart. But there is more to it, when you want to see the viewpoint. You could either hike up for about 10 minutes to a small café to enjoy the view or take the cable car. The short ride will cost you 100 Baht, but it’s worth it and definitely an adventure. Furthermore, there are a 400 meters long zipline on-site, which you can ride for 800 Baht. That means it’s much more than just a viewpoint and you could easily spend some time there without getting bored. Lamai Viewpoint is a real adventure.

5. Viewpoints Koh Samui: Overlap Stone Lamai
The Overlap Stone is one of Koh Samui’s hidden gems and offers a great view from the huge bolder at the east coast and the bay of Lamai. To get there it’s a little hard. The road is very steep and hard to pass with a normal scooter. But never mind, you can also take a walk for about 20 minutes up the hill. It is an unforgettable moment, when you stand at the cliff and let the fresh air with the breathtaking view take effect on you. You will find the Overlap Stone near the Grandmother and Grandfather Rock inside the island when you go further south turn right. Not many visitors are coming to this special viewpoint so most likely you will have it all to yourself.

6. Viewpoints Koh Samui: Wat Rattanakosin
Khao Chedi, as the Wat Rattanakosin is also known, is located on a hill in southern Koh Samui. Just a couple of minutes uphill from the famous Laem Sor Pagoda. The temple grounds are only visited by a very few tourists and therefore really calm and peaceful. Here you can discover the white Chedi, some Buddha statues and of course enjoy the amazing view over the grove of palms, the beach, and ocean along the south coast.

7. Viewpoints Koh Samui: Paradise Park Farm
Situated on Koh Samui’s highest mountain, Khao Pom, you can visit the Paradise Park Farm. It is suitable for the whole family and a popular tourist destination. The farm is located in the tropical rainforest and offers many animals and a fantastic view from the infinity pool over the north of Koh Samui as well as the neighboring island Koh Phangan. On-site you can take a walk on adventurous trails and watch birds, iguanas or even deer. You can also feed them, which is perfect for kids. Everything is very natural and the European owners pay attention to the welfare of the animals. There is also a restaurant for food or drinks, where Thai and European dishes are served. You can either visit Paradise Park Farm on your own or book a tour at one of the many travel agencies. The prices if you explore it by yourself is 300 Baht for adult and 200 Baht for children. If you would like to travel by an operated tour and visit more places, you pay about 1100 Baht for adults and 900 Baht for children.

8. Tempel Viewpoint: Khao Hua Jook Pagoda
Another viewpoint is directly located in Chaweng and you probably can see the Golden Chedi of the Khao Hua Jook Pagoda from many places of the town. It is situated on the Chow Daow Mountain and offers a great view over Chaweng, the Chaweng Lake and the International Airport of Koh Samui. You can visit the grounds for free and explore a nice Buddhist temple next to the view from the top. It’s best to reach by scooter, because there are no public transports on site. Mostly there are only a few visitors, which means you can probably enjoy the view all to yourself.

9. Hotel Viewpoint: W Retreat Samui
The W Retreat is a luxury resort located on the tip of land between Bophut and Maenam Beach. Most of the visitors are resort guests, but you don’t have to book a room with the W Resort to visit it. Guests from outside are welcome and you can enjoy the beach or have a drink at the bar with a great view over the shore of Samui and the next island Koh Phangan. Furthermore, there is the Woobar, which is open daily from 11 am until midnight. The bar offers drinks in a higher price range, but the view and atmosphere make up for that. Every Friday from 6 pm to 9 pm you can enjoy the Mojito happy hour. It costs 888 Baht, but for that price, you can try many different Mojito versions for 3 hours while a DJ is playing some music.

10. Best Viewpoint: Wat Teepangkorn
The Wat Teepangkorn can be also visited on the Khao Pom, which is with 635 meters the highest mountain on Koh Samui. Most guests arrive with the 4×4 Jeep tours on Koh Samui, but you can also visit the temple grounds with your own motorbike, if you take the way up from Lamai to the middle of the island. The highlight of the Wat Teepangkorn is the golden Buddha-Statue Phra Buddha Teepangkorn, where the temple gets its name from. Also, you will have a superb view from the platform of the golden Buddha over the east coast of Koh Samui. Furthermore, you can explore some more temple buildings in the near future, since the construction started already.
